Workshop on Statistical Nuclear Physics and Applications in Astrophysics and Technology

Athens, Ohio July 8-11 2008

The conference starts with continental breakfast at 8:30 am every morning. The talks begin at 9:00 am. On Tuesday July 8, registration opens at 8:00 am. The conference venue is the Multicultural Center which is located on the second floor of Ohio University's Baker Center. The Multicultural Center can be entered via room 203; the talks will be in room 219.

A map of campus and surrounding areas is shown here:

The workshop will be held in Baker Center which is located on Oxbow Trail. There are many restaurants on Court Street, Union Street, and other side streets a short distance to the north of Baker Center. In addition, you can purchase food in Baker Center. The University also has a nice interactive map here (Baker Center is building 87 on their map).

Baker Center can be easily reached by walking from the Ohio University Inn (distance just under 0.5 miles or 800 meters). From the OU Inn, walk north from on Richland Avenue, crossing highway 682, and then the Hocking River. Continue north, crossing South Green / South Shafer. Continue north past a small grass field and then past Grover Center. Turn right (east) just after Grover Center and follow the sidewalk to the right of a construction area. The sidewalk leads to Oxbow Trail and then Baker Center will be right in front of you.

If you will be driving to campus from the East State Street area, take US-33 East to where joins US-50 West and OH-32 West in Athens. Then take Exit 17, for OH-682 North. Turn right at the first traffic light, onto Richland Avenue, to cross the Hocking River and enter the Ohio University campus. Driving directions are also available here.

If you will driving your car onto campus, we suggest you take a look at Ohio University's parking map. Since it is summer time, you may park free of charge in any dark green or purple lot. Just avoid spaces with meters or other signs indicating special restrictions. We recommend parking in lot 84 or 134. Note that the closest lot to Baker Center, 120, is presently closed due to construction. If you arrive before 9:30 in the morning, there should be no problems finding a place to park. Later in the day may require some hunting, in that case we suggest lot 79 or 93.
